Parashar Rishi

Good Afternoon

Parashara was a Rigvedic Maharishi, and the author of many ancient Indian texts. He is regarded to have been lived around 3100 BCE, although some estimate him as low as 1500 BCE. He is accredited for being the author of the first Purana: Vishnu Purana (before his Son Veda Vyasa wrote it in its present form). He was the grandson of Vashista, the son of Śakti Maharṣi, and the father of Veda Vyasa. There are several texts which give reference to

Parashara as an author/speaker. Modern scholars believe that there were many individuals who used this name throughout time whereas others assert that the same Parashara taught these various texts and the time of writing them varied. The actual sage himself never wrote the texts, he was known as a traveling teacher, and the various texts attributed to him are given in reference to Parashara being the speaker to his student. He is the third member of the Ṛṣi Paramparā of the Advaita Guru Paramparā.

Most beautiful Hill Stations In Himachal Pradesh

Good Afternoon

Palampur – McLeod Ganj

This place is highly risky during monsoon seasons as the region of mountains is in the edge of danger to travel in heavy rains. Apart from monsoon season, one can view utmost scenic beauty of these regions specifically in McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala which came to limelight after Richard Gere, Madonna and others had been traced out for working towards the Tibetan Cause.

Tribal Regions

This lies on National Highway 21 which initiates from Shimla and then passes through Peo-Kaza-Tabo-Losaar and opens up in Kunzum La and reaches up to back of Rohtang Pass. The total area is literally dry. When there is heavy monsoon season, the mountain area around Recong Peo is admirable and after that region attains its usual posture. One can adventure this road after receiving proper Inner Line Permit from Recong Peo which is same for Indians and also for foreigners. One can travel on this road right from the month of May and may try even up to month of September.

Shimla

Shimla can be visited at any time round the year. Even rainy season is enjoyable as jungles are perfumed with pine trees. But if one wants to enjoy winter season in Shimla, then they need to book everything in advance by October to November and can make their travel after 25th of December when heavy snowfall begins.

Manali

Summer arrives when the heat burns in several parts of north India and this is the best time when all people run towards a shelter in Himachal Pradesh. No one can find difficulty in finding an accommodation as there are numerous hotels in Manali. Summer season will be hot especially during the months of April to July which is followed by slump in monsoon. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO VISIT MANALI DURING MONSOON SEASON. The roads are highly unpredictable during rainy season and every year quite a good number of roads are regularly washed away with high tides of Beas. So, strictly avoid visiting this place during rainy season. One can start their journey again in mid of August to late October when they can witness a newly born Manali. During this time, the city is thronged by huge crowd from all parts of the world. Winter season starts very late in Manali and snowfall starts late in December and it can be witnessed up to late February. One can have hands on experience on skiing in January and February at Solang valley which is a well known Ski point.

Good Afternoon

Himachal Pradesh is a state in Northern India. It is spread over 21,495 sq mi (55,670 km2), and is bordered by Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Punjab on the west and south-west, Haryana and Uttarakhand on the south-east and by the Tibet Autonomous Region on the east.

Himachal Pradesh is famous for its abundant natural beauty. After the war between Nepal and Britain, also known as the Anglo-Gorkha War (1814–1816), the British colonial government came into power. In 1950 Himachal was declared a union territory, but after the State of Himachal Pradesh Act 1971, Himachal emerged as the 18th state of the Republic of India. Hima means snow in Sanskrit, and the literal meaning of the state's name is In the lap of Himalayas. It was named by Acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, one of the great Sanskrit scholars of Himachal Pradesh.
The economy of Himachal Pradesh is currently the third fastest growing economy in India.Himachal Pradesh has been ranked fourth in the list of the highest per capita incomes of Indian states. The abundance of perennial rivers enables Himachal to sell hydroelectricity to other states such as Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan. The economy of the state is highly dependent on three sources: hydroelectric power, tourism and agriculture.

Himachal Pradesh is the least urbanized state in India with nearly 90% of population living in rural area, but the Shimla district is comparatively urbanized with nearly 25% population living in an urban area. According to a 2005 Transparency International survey, Himachal Pradesh is ranked the second-least corrupt state in the country after Kerala.

Dev Kamrunaag “THE LORD OF RAIN” is located at District Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Maha Shivaratri

Maha Shivratri (the 'Great Night of Shiva') is a Hindu festival celebrated every year in reverence of Lord Shiva. Alternate common spellings include Sivaratri, Shivaratri, Sivarathri, and Shivarathri. It marks the convergence of Shiva and Shakti. Maha Shivratri is celebrated on the Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi of Hindu calendar month Maagha which falls in February or March as per the Gregorian calendar.

The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael or golden apple or Bilva/Vilvam leaves to Lord Shiva, all-day fasting and an all-night-long vigil (jagarana). All through the day, devotees chant "Om Namah Shivaya", a sacred Panchakshara mantra dedicated to Lord Shiva. In accordance with scriptural and discipleship traditions, penances are performed in order to gain boons in the practice of Yoga and meditation, in order to reach life's highest good steadily and swiftly.

In Nepal, millions of Hindus attend Shivaratri together from different part of the world at the famous Pashupatinath Temple. Thousands of devotees also attend Mahasivaratri at the famous Shiva Shakti Peetham of Nepal.
On Mahashivratri, Nishita Kala is the ideal time to observe Shiva Pooja. Nishita Kala is the time when Lord Shiva appeared on the Earth in the form of Linga.  On this day, in all Shiva temples, the most auspicious Lingodbhava puja is performed.

Growth comes from change, and change promotes growth

We can’t be stangnant in our lives.  We need to grow and change.  The thing is, change is hard for a lot of people, myself included.  But if we embrace change, and welcome it, we’ll find ourselves growing as people and as we grow, we change, and from that change comes more growth.  It’s a pretty awesome circle.

Happy Valentine Day 2014

Saint Valentine's Day, also known as Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is observed on February 14 each year. It is celebrated in many countries around the world, although it is not a holiday in most of them.
St. Valentine's Day began as a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. Several martyrdom stories were invented for the various Valentines that belonged to February 14, and added to later martyrologies. A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. According to legend, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius. An embellishment to this story states that before his execution he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell. Today, Saint Valentine's Day is an official feast day in the Anglican Communionas well as in the Lutheran Church The Eastern Orthodox Church also celebrates Saint Valentine's Day, albeit on July 6 and July 30, the former date in honor of the Roman presbyter Saint Valentine, and the latter date in honor of Hieromartyr Valentine, the Bishop of Interamna (modern Terni). In Brazil, the Dia de São Valentim is recognized on June 12.

Advance Study in Shimla

The First building to strike the eye when one comes up to Shimla by rail is The Viceregal Lodge or better known today as The Indian Institute of Advanced Study. The Building which had witnessed the most turbulent phase in Indian history-the slow coming of the Viceroys, their cloaks and ermine tippets to their their sudden and swift departure. It saw the change in its inmates from politicians and generals to professors and scholars.

The Institute which was housed in the building on 20th October 1965 grew to become 'an internationally recognized centre of high creativity and excellence'. It had its years of dormancy but after that it grew and is still growing to achieve new vistas and conquering new horizons.
